What Should I Experience Before Getting a Rapid Test?
Even though mask mandates have been lifted across the country, which is a good sign in terms of the coronavirus, more people are getting sick from other illnesses due to fewer people wearing masks.
Because of this, a respiratory illness called RSV is on the rise in our state. Our AFC Urgent Care Clemson team elaborates on this illness and when you should consider visiting our center to get a rapid test for it below.
What Is RSV?
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is on the rise in the “Southern United States” according to the CDC, causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract. It’s most common among children, and it’s so common that most have been infected with the virus by age 2.
Respiratory syncytial virus can also infect adults, and its symptoms are mild and typically mimic the common cold; however, symptoms can be much more severe among infants and young children. We’ve listed the most common RSV symptoms below.
Common RSV Symptoms
- Congested or runny nose
- Dry cough
- Low-grade fever
- Sore throat
- Sneezing
- Headache
